The drill rod is a steel pipe with threads at both ends. It is used to connect the rig surface equipment and the button drilling equipment or bottom hole device.
The usage is to pass the rig torque to the bottom hole and to transfer the drilling fluid to the drill bit. Otherwise, the drill rod can raise, lower or rotate the bottom hole device.
We often divide the drill rod to five types:
1. Hex drill rods;
2. Twist drill rods;
3. Spiral drill rods;
4. Tapered drill rods;
5. Water well drill rods.
